BALI IS BALANCE. Temples, beaches, yoga, animals, nature, partying. Serioulsy, what more can we ask for
Tip #1: AIRBNB. If there is a place to stay airbnb, it’s Bali. Amazing villas with incredible staff for insanely reasonable prices.
Tip #2: STAY IN UBUD. If you’re planning on visiting the main temples, the safaris, the terraces, and all of Bali’s main attractions, staying in Ubud will save you lot’s of time.
Tip #3: PLAN YOUR TRANSPORTATION AHEAD. In general, taxi drivers in Bali will try to rip you off constantly. I would suggest hiring someone to drive you around, it’s not expensive and you’ll save yourself the hard time with the taxis. Most airbnb’s offer you this service.
*Special note on airport pickup: the airport is full of drivers fishing tourist, they are really pushy so you have to just ignore, don’t even make eye contact. It’s safer if you have a pickup organized previously with your airbnb or hotel staff.
MONKEY FOREST: Unique experience in monkey heaven. These crazy little simians took over this forest area filled with ancient temples. It’s an amazing scene to watch, and a nice opportunity to hang around the macaques. There’s lots of stands selling bananas for you to feed them, but be really carefull, they might be a bit aggresive, so do not hold on to the banana, let it go. Also, they steal, for real, so watch out for your belongings.
TAGALLANG RICE TERRACE: Seriously amazing scenery, but make sure you bring sunblock and stay hidrated. To get a nice view you might have to hike a lot, but it’s worth it.
BALI SAFARI: This would be my top pick out of all the options in Bali. This offers a more real experience, “less zoo-like”. You can do the safari by truck, or by elephant, & there is also a chance to do the safari at night!!!
MY PICK ON TEMPLES:
- TAMAN AYUN TEMPLE
- PURA TAMAN SARASWATI
- PURA TIRTA EMPUL
- PURA GUNUNG KAWI
- BESAKIH TEMPLE
TO EAT, TO BEACH & TO PARTY
POTATO HEAD: Really cool beach club full of colorful art everywhere, amazing food, and a nice beach area. This is a great place to chill during the day at the beach or the garden, to go grab a drink at sunset, or even catch a night beach party. There’s also a couple of restaurants and bars inside the club, depending on your mood. (Try the oysters).
MRS SIPPY: Salt water pool club with a really high diving board, cool music, great food & drinks. During the day, if there is no specific party, it’s kid friendly; after sunset it might get a bit more party-like, depending on the day & season.
Bali is full of great restaurants, my top pick would be Clear Café, local-vegetarian meals in a really nice atmosphere.
